Our moms can use it
Our CMS is incredibly easy to use. We’re not kidding when we say that our moms
use umbraco; they are happy campers, just like your end-users will be.
We use umbraco CMS to be as simple as possible, based on well-known UI metaphors
and with a minimum of visual noise. The focus is your content, not umbraco. So
we show your site’s pages in a tree view, just like in Windows Explorer and
Mac’s Finder. To create new content pages you can right-click the parent page or
simply click the big Create button that’s always visible. To edit a page’s
content simply select that page in the tree view. When you’re done, click Save
(to save a draft) or Publish (to make the changes visible for website visitors).
But don’t judge a book by its cover. Beneath this simple interface lies a
powerfule CMS with advanced role-based security, Microsoft Word style WYSIWYG
editor, digital asset management, a flexible notification system, plus many more
features that usually garner an "enterprise" label on the box.
Use what you’re familiar with
Even though umbraco has a built-in, easy to use UI that runs in all browsers,
sometimes it's just more convenient to use a desktop program to write your
content. That's why umbraco includes Microsoft Word 2007 integration.
With Microsoft Word 2007 users can access umbraco pages directly from their
desktop to edit content and create new pages, and even work off-line.
Because of this strong integration with umbraco, users gain all the benefits of
working in a familiar word processor, including automatic spelling and grammar
checking, easily inserting images, charts or video directly in Microsoft Word
2007, etc. And you don’t need to worry about html, css or any other technical
challenges. It just works.
If only every application had umbraco’s undo functionality
Mistakes happen. Maybe some text was changed to something a bit too “creative”
or a typo was introduced, maybe something was incorrectly named or entire
paragraphs deleted.
Luckily, umbraco stores every version of your content, including all the changes
that have been made. If something is not right, you can always go back in time
to a previous version. Umbraco’s roll back capability let’s you quickly find the
version you want, highlighting all the differences with the current page using
our effective visual difference display.
When you've found the right version, just click save and your site is instantly
restored to the proper version.
